Det er vigtigt at forstå alvoren af radon. Ved langvarig eksponering for høje radonniveauer øges risikoen for lungekræft markant. Ifølge Strålsäkerhetsmyndigheten forårsager radon omkring 500 tilfælde af lungekræft hvert år i Sverige, og symptomerne kan tage mange år at udvikle sig. For at mindske denne risiko har Folkhälsomyndigheten fastsat en grænseværdi på 200 Bq/m³ for radon i boliger og offentlige bygninger.

Radon kommer primært fra undergrunden, byggematerialer og i visse tilfælde drikkevand. Ved at måle radon i dit hjem kan du opdage, om der er forhøjede niveauer, og tage nødvendige foranstaltninger for at sikre et sundt indeklima.

Strålsäkerhetsmyndigheten anslår, at omkring 325.000 boliger i Sverige har radonniveauer, der overstiger grænseværdien på 200 Bq/m³. Dette gør det endnu vigtigere at måle radon for at beskytte din families helbred.
